Mosaic Fragment with Glass and Stone Tesserae

These small black stones and green glass show the different materials and techniques used to produce colorful mosaics. Artists often traveled to find work, but a workshop found with uncut stones in the main commercial area of the city indicates Beth Shean may have been a local production center. This might explain the high quality and abundance of works in the area.
