Gold Mosaic Fragment

Fragments of gilded glass found at Beth Shean attest to the existence of wall mosaics in particularly significant spaces. However, no standing building with such dazzling wall covering has been found to date, and this particular Byzantine example was found several layers below the historical occupation period in which it was made, making it impossible to tell where it may have originally come from.
